165 Unsent Letters

- 2018

- Performance experiment

This work is a response to my social phobia. The purpose of this project was to help me heal and find a way to reconcile with others.

To accomplish this, I selected an acquaintance and wrote him 165 letters over the course of 165 days. These letters covered a range of topics related to my daily life, personal affairs, and reflections on myself. Although I placed each letter in an envelope, I never actually sent them. Instead, the acquaintance served as a sort of supervisor, helping me to stay accountable and consistently share my thoughts and experiences.

The number 165 also has symbolic significance in this project. It represents my height, which is 165 cm, and serves as a daily reminder of my ongoing effort to overcome my social phobia and become a better version of myself.
